What are Vaporesso XROS Corex 2.0 pods?

Vaporesso XROS Corex 2.0 pods are the second-generation refillable pods for the XROS range. Each one is a 2ml top-fill pod with a fixed mesh coil built in; you get four of the same resistance in a pack, fill them with your own e-liquid, and swap the whole pod when the flavour goes. They fit every XROS device Vaporesso has made, and they come in five resistances covering everything from a tight cigarette-style draw to a warm, airy lung hit. We sell a pack of four for £12.99.

Two things trip people up, so let us deal with them first. One: these are not prefilled pods. A surprising number of searches for "XROS Corex 2 prefilled pods" land here, and the answer is that no XROS pod has ever come with liquid in it. They are empty, and that is the whole point of the Vaporesso XROS system: cheap pods, your choice of juice. Two: Corex 2.0 is the outgoing generation. Corex 3.0 pods launched with the XROS 5 and fit the same devices, and Vaporesso is winding 2.0 down. That does not make these pods worse, but it does change the buying advice, which we get to below.

Are XROS Corex 2.0 pods prefilled or refillable?

Refillable. Every pod in the pack is empty when you open it, with a fixed coil sealed inside and a 2ml chamber for whatever e-liquid you like. You fill it, vape it until the flavour drops off, then bin it and click in the next one. There is no prefilled XROS pod, and there never has been; the XROS is a refillable platform from top to bottom.

If what you actually want is a pod that arrives full, so there is no bottle to carry and nothing to top up, you are shopping in the wrong aisle. That job belongs to the prefilled pod kits, where the pod comes with liquid sealed in. The trade-off is cost: a prefilled pod is a couple of pounds for 2ml of liquid, while a Corex pod is about £3.25 and takes fifty-odd refills before the coil gives out. Over a month the refillable is a fraction of the price, which is why most people who start on prefilled end up on an XROS.

XROS Corex 2.0 resistance guide: 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0 or 1.2ohm?

A pack is one resistance, so pick before you buy. Lower number means more power, more warmth, more vapour and faster liquid use; higher number means a cooler, tighter draw that sips juice and battery. The device sets the wattage itself when it reads the pod, so you never touch a setting.

If you are not sure, buy the 0.8ohm. It is the resistance Vaporesso ships in most XROS kits, it works with every nic salt on our shelves, and it is forgiving of being hit hard or left for a day. Go down to 0.6 if you want more cloud and are on a 10mg salt; go up to 1.0 or 1.2 if you are on 20mg and want it to feel like a cigarette draw.

One honest note on the 0.4ohm: it is the odd one out. It needs 25W, which the smaller XROS batteries cannot give it, and it drinks liquid at roughly twice the rate of the 0.8. On an XROS 4 or 5 with a 70/30 shortfill it is a lovely warm lung hit. In an XROS 3 Mini or original XROS it either will not fire properly or will fire weakly, so do not buy it for those.

Which XROS devices take Corex 2.0 pods?

All of them, with the 0.4ohm caveat above. The XROS pod format has not changed since the first XROS in 2020: same magnets, same contacts, same clamshell fill. So a Corex 2.0 pod clicks into the XROS 3 Mini, the XROS 4 and 4 Mini, the XROS 5, 5 Mini and 5 Nano, the XROS 6 and 6 Mini, and both the XROS Pro and Pro 2.

They do not fit anything outside the XROS family. Not the LUXE X, not the Armour, not the Vibe, and not any other brand. If your device has "XROS" on it, these fit. If it does not, they will not.

The device that launched with these pods is the XROS 4, which is why we pair them on the tab above. The 4 and 4 Mini were the first to read the pod resistance and set their own wattage, and the 0.4ohm pod was introduced specifically for them.

Should you buy Corex 2.0 or Corex 3.0 pods now?

Buy whichever is in stock in the resistance you want, and do not lose sleep over it. Here is the honest version of the difference. Corex 3.0 tweaks the mesh pattern and the cotton for a little more flavour and a slightly longer life; Vaporesso quotes a modest improvement, and in daily use it is the sort of thing you notice side by side and forget about a week later. Both fit the same devices, both come four to a pack, both use the same clamshell fill.

What has actually changed is availability. Vaporesso is phasing the 2.0 out, so some resistances will disappear before others. If you have found a resistance you love and it is 2.0, buying a couple of packs while they are here is sensible. If you are starting fresh, going straight to the Corex 3.0 pods means you will not have to switch later.

Compared with the original Corex pods from the XROS 3 era, the 2.0 was the bigger jump: the morph-mesh structure with its varied grid size heats more evenly, the cotton wicks thicker juice, and pods last noticeably longer before they turn burnt. If you are still on original XROS pods, moving to either 2.0 or 3.0 is a proper upgrade.

How to fill and prime an XROS Corex 2.0 pod

The clamshell top is the best filling system on any pod kit at this price, and it is also where most burnt-pod complaints start, because people fill and vape in the same breath. Give it the minutes.

1Lift the mouthpiece cap; it hinges up rather than pulling off, so it cannot go missing.
2Drip your e-liquid into the port until it sits just under the max line. Do not fill to the brim.
3Close the cap firmly until it clicks. If it does not click, it will weep.
4Stand the pod up for five minutes on a first fill so the cotton soaks. Three minutes is enough on a top-up.
5Click it into the device and take three or four soft pulls before a proper draw.

How long does a Corex 2.0 pod last, and what does it cost to run?

One to two weeks for a typical user, which is somewhere between eight and fifteen refills. Fruit and menthol liquids stretch that; sweet dessert and custard liquids gunk the mesh and shorten it. You will know it is done when the flavour goes flat or faintly burnt even with a full pod, or when a pull sounds crackly with nothing behind it.

At £12.99 for four, a pack is roughly a month to two months of pods for most people, so call it £6.50 to £13 a month plus your e-liquid. A 10ml bottle of nic salt fills a pod five times. Set against a prefilled kit that needs a new £2 to £3 pod every couple of days, the XROS on Corex pods comes out well under half the running cost, and against a daily disposable it is not even close.

Two habits make pods last longer. Keep them topped up rather than running them dry, because a dry coil is a burnt coil. And stick to 50/50 liquids on the 0.8 and above; thick 70/30 shortfills are fine in the 0.4 and just about in the 0.6, but they starve the tighter pods and cause dry hits.

It was not soaked long enough. Fill it, leave it five minutes, then take gentle pulls. If it is already burnt through, that pod is done; the cotton does not recover.

The coil has reached the end. One to two weeks is normal, less on sweet liquids. Swap it.

Leaking from the bottom

Overfilled, or the cap was not clicked shut. Fill to under the line, close the cap firmly, and store the device upright. Wipe the pod bay dry.

Gurgling and spitting

Flooded coil, usually from hard pulls. Take the pod out, tap the mouthpiece on a tissue, and draw softer.

Device flashes and will not fire

Wipe the two contacts on the base of the pod and reseat it. If it is a 0.4ohm in a 3 Mini or original XROS, the device cannot power it; use a 0.6 or higher.

Weak flavour

Try a lower resistance, or check your liquid suits the pod (50/50 for 0.8 and up). A flat battery also softens the hit.
