The Drag X3 ships with a 0.15ohm and a 0.3ohm PnP X coil, both DTL-rated and installed ready to use. The 0.8ohm and 1.0ohm PnP X coils are available separately for restricted or mouth-to-lung draws. Here is how each one performs:

The right e-liquid depends almost entirely on which coil you are running, and at what wattage.

On the 0.15ohm coil at 60-80W, use a high-VG e-liquid at 70/30 or 80/20 VG/PG. The coil fires hot and fast and needs a viscous liquid to stay saturated. Thin 50/50 blends can flood or produce dry hits at those outputs. High-VG shortfills from 100ml bottles are the practical choice. Nicotine strength: 3mg for most regular vapers, 6mg if you were a moderate smoker.

On the 0.3ohm coil at 25-40W, both high-VG and 50/50 work well. This is the most versatile coil on the Drag X3, and the best starting point if you want to sample flavoured shortfills without running at full output all day.

On the 0.8 and 1.0ohm coils, switch to 50/50 or nicotine salt e-liquids. Lower wattages favour thinner liquids, and salt-based nicotine delivers a smoother hit at higher concentrations. A 10mg or 20mg nic salt works well for ex-smokers making the transition through the restricted or MTL draw these coils provide.

Whatever liquid you choose, fill the pod through the side-fill port, which you access by lifting the pod slightly from the device. Prime for at least five minutes before your first draw. The transparent 2ml pod lets you monitor the level without removing it each time.

The VOOPOO Drag S2 and the Drag X3 sit within a few pounds of each other at retail, share the PnP X coil platform and both run the GENE.TT 2.0 chip. But they take fundamentally different approaches to power delivery.

The Drag S2 has a built-in 2500mAh battery. Charge it via USB-C, pick it up and go. There is nothing to source separately, no battery safety knowledge required, and the body is slightly slimmer as a result. It tops out at 60W, which covers the 0.15 to 0.3ohm coil range comfortably and is plenty for the majority of direct-to-lung vaping.

The Drag X3 runs on your own 18650 or 21700 cell. That pushes maximum output up to 80W and lets you swap depleted batteries rather than waiting for the device to charge. Carry two cells and the Drag X3 never goes flat. Over time, replacing a dead 18650 costs a few pounds; replacing the device because a built-in cell has degraded costs considerably more.

The Drag X3 also brings the touch screen, capacitive fire key and motion-sensor unlock. The Drag S2 uses a conventional button-and-screen setup that is perfectly functional but less distinctive.

Short version: the Drag S2 is the simpler, lower-maintenance choice for everyday use. The Drag X3 rewards vapers who want higher output, prefer swappable cells, or appreciate a touch-first interface. Both take identical coils and pods, so switching between them costs nothing on consumables.
