VooPoo operates two main pod coil platforms. The PnP (Plug-n-Play) system is their cross-device compact pod platform, covering a range of resistances from sub-ohm to MTL options and used in smaller pod kits. The TPP platform is a separate system built for higher-powered VooPoo devices and oriented primarily toward direct-to-lung vaping at elevated wattage.
The TPP platform uses larger coil elements than PnP. TPP coils are sized to accommodate the airflow volume and wattage requirements of higher-output devices. The resistance options available in the TPP range lean toward sub-ohm territory, producing a warmer, more vapour-intensive draw than the MTL-oriented end of the PnP range. If you use a VooPoo device that takes TPP coils, these pod bodies are the correct housing for those coils.
TPP coils and PnP coils are not interchangeable despite both being VooPoo products. The TPP coil is a larger component that will not fit the socket of a PnP pod body, and a PnP coil will not seat correctly in a TPP pod body. Confirm your device uses the TPP coil standard before ordering these pods.
810 drip tip: how the wider bore affects the vaping experience
Drip tip bore refers to the internal diameter of the mouthpiece through which vapour passes. The two most common bore standards are 510 and 810. The 510 drip tip has a narrower bore, which creates more airflow restriction and suits mouth-to-lung draws where resistance is part of the desired experience. The 810 drip tip has a wider bore and allows a higher volume of airflow per draw, which suits direct-to-lung vaping where resistance is minimal and vapour volume is high.
The TPP pod body uses an 810 drip tip because TPP coils are sub-ohm components running at higher wattage, producing more vapour per draw than MTL coils. A wider bore allows that vapour volume to travel from the coil to your lungs without restriction. If you tried to draw the same vapour volume through a 510 bore, the narrower passage would create significant resistance that conflicts with the open draw style the TPP platform is designed for.
The 810 bore on these pods is fixed as part of the pod body moulding. You cannot swap the drip tip for a 510 on these pods without an adapter. If you prefer a tighter draw, the PnP platform with higher-resistance coils is the more appropriate VooPoo option. The TPP pods are specifically suited to open-draw DTL vaping with sub-ohm coils.
Fitting a coil, priming and looking after the TPP pod
Because the coil and pod body are separate, the one job that matters is seating a fresh TPP coil and priming it before the first vape. A dry sub-ohm coil fired at high wattage scorches the mesh the instant it fires.
- 1Press your chosen TPP coil into the base of the pod body until it seats.
- 2Drip a generous few drops onto the exposed mesh, fill the 2ml pod, and close the port.
- 3Let it stand a full ten minutes so the mesh saturates, especially with thicker high-VG juice.
- 4Fit the pod into your TPP device, start the wattage low, and climb into the coil's range.
- 5Refill before the level drops near the coil, and never fire it dry.
Burnt hit from a new coil
It was not primed long enough for a sub-ohm coil. Re-prime, rest it ten minutes, and start low.
Flooding or gurgling
Do not overfill, seat the coil firmly, and take a steadier draw. Clear a flooded coil with gentle pulls.
Muted flavour or thin vapour
The wattage is too low or the coil is worn. Climb the range first; if it persists, fit a fresh TPP coil.
Leaking from the base
Check the coil is fully seated and the pod body is not cracked or worn; replace the body if it is.
