What are the Aspire Nautilus BVC Replacement Coils?
The Nautilus has been around since 2013, which in vaping years is roughly forever, and it is still made and still recommended because nobody has meaningfully bettered it for pure MTL. Adjustable airflow, a dependable BVC coil, a refill that just works. These coils are what keep that tank alive, and there is a genuinely wide choice of them.
Four resistances span the lot, from an ultra-tight cigarette-style draw to an open sub-ohm hit, so the same tank can be a gentle MTL starter one day and a cloudier DTL setup the next, just by changing the coil. Note the family line, though: these are the BVC heads for the original Nautilus, the Mini and the Nautilus 2. The newer 2S uses a different platform and needs the Nautilus 2S coils instead. The four resistances and who each suits
Start tight. The 1.8 ohm is the traditional Nautilus draw. Run it at 10 to 14 watts and you get cool, tight vapour with a resistance that feels much like pulling on a filtered cigarette. It is where most ex-smokers begin, because the physical act is the most familiar. Pair it with 20mg salt for the closest stand-in for a cigarette.
The 1.6 ohm loosens things a notch. At 13 to 16 watts the vapour runs warmer and the draw opens slightly, which is the coil a lot of people drift to after six months once 1.8 ohm starts feeling stuffy. The warmer vapour lifts the flavour too.
The 0.7 ohm is the crossover, sitting between MTL and a restricted lung hit. At 15 to 20 watts the draw opens enough for a more generous inhale without going full sub-ohm. It suits anyone wanting more vapour than classic MTL gives but not ready for a dedicated cloud tank. Lower-mg freebase in 50/50 or 60/40 works best here.
The 0.3 ohm mesh is the top of the range. At 20 to 30 watts it turns the humble Nautilus into a proper DTL tank, the mesh heating a bigger surface at once for noticeably more vapour and richer flavour. This one is for experienced vapers who want their Nautilus to chuck clouds, and it likes a higher-VG 70/30 juice.

Matching the coil to your device and draw
Two things decide the right coil: how much power your device can put out and how tightly you like to draw. Most basic MTL kits cap out around 14 or 15 watts, which makes 1.6 and 1.8 ohm the sensible ceiling for them. Drop a 0.3 ohm coil onto a 12-watt device and it simply will not perform as intended.
On a variable-wattage mod that does 25 watts or more, the whole range is open to you, so choose purely on the draw and vapour you want rather than what the device can manage.
A trick experienced Nautilus users swear by is keeping two coils on the go: a 1.8 ohm for daytime salts and a 0.7 ohm for evenings with freebase and a looser draw. The airflow ring adjusts independently of the coil, so there is plenty of fine-tuning on top.
How to prime a Nautilus BVC coil
Priming is the make-or-break step on any BVC coil. Skip it and the first pull tastes of bonfire and the coil is done before you start.
- 1Drip e-liquid onto the exposed wicking holes around the coil body until the cotton looks wet.
- 2Screw the coil into the Nautilus base.
- 3Fill the tank and stand it upright for five minutes so the wick saturates fully.
- 4Take the first few draws gently to avoid shocking a partly-primed wick.
- 5Settle into your normal draw once it is wicking cleanly.
When to change your Nautilus coil

Persistent burnt or stale taste
The coil is spent if a refill does not clear it. Fit a fresh one.
Burnt taste on a brand-new coil
It was not primed. Re-prime, fill, wait five minutes, and start gently.

Flavour fading mid-tank
Sweet juices clog the wire and end coil life early. Expect shorter runs on dessert blends.

Are these coils compatible with the Nautilus Mini and Nautilus 2?
Yes. The BVC coil thread is shared across the original Nautilus, the Nautilus Mini and the Nautilus 2, and all four resistances fit each of them. The newer Nautilus 2S uses a different platform and needs its own 2S coils.
Which resistance should I choose if I am switching from cigarettes?
Start with the 1.8 ohm. It gives the coolest, tightest draw in the range and most resembles pulling on a filtered cigarette. Run it with 10mg to 20mg salt and the airflow ring set tight for the most cigarette-like result. As you settle into vaping you can step down a resistance for more warmth and vapour.
