A vape is only as charged as its weakest cable, and the cable is always the first thing to go. The Aspire 5A USB-C Cable is the cheap, sturdy replacement for the lead that came in the box and has since vanished down the back of a sofa or frayed at the plug. USB-A on one end, USB-C on the other, about a metre of it, and rated high enough that it will never be the part holding your charge back.
For £1.99 it punches above its price. The 5A rating means it carries whatever current your device and plug agree on, the reversible USB-C end fits the newer Aspire kit and most modern vapes, and the connector heads are reinforced at exactly the spots where budget cables give up. Keep a couple in the drawer and you will never be the person hunting for a working lead at bedtime.
A cable's amp rating is the ceiling on how much current it can safely carry. Use a lead rated to only 1A or 2A with a device and plug that are both happy to fast-charge, and the cable becomes the bottleneck. The device asks for more than the wire can pass, so either a safety cutoff steps in or the whole thing quietly drops to the slower rate. Either way you wait longer than you needed to.
At 5A this cable takes that problem off the table. It passes whatever the device requests up to a generous ceiling, which comfortably covers every fast-charge setup you will meet on vaping hardware. Plug it into a charger that supports a quick charge and your device fills as fast as it is rated to.
Worth saying: a 5A cable costs you nothing when paired with a humble 1A wall plug. It simply passes the 1A on, same speed as any other lead, but with better-built ends and the headroom to keep up the day you upgrade the plug. There is no penalty for over-spec on a cable, only a longer life.
USB-C has all but retired micro-USB across the newer Aspire range and the wider vape market. The plug is reversible, so there is no fumbling for the right way up in the dark. The port stands up to far more plugging and unplugging than the old micro-USB ever did, and it moves both power and data faster.
If you have just moved from an older vape to a current one, there is a good chance your shoepack of micro-USB cables is suddenly useless for your main device. This is the lead that closes that gap. It also charges your phone, your earbuds, and anything else with a USB-C port, so it earns its place in the bag even on the days the vape behaves.
Plenty of current Aspire devices charge over USB-C, the Flexus Pro and the Minican line among them, and any new release lands with a USB-C port as a matter of course. Owning a decent spare USB-C cable is no longer optional kit.
Cables almost never fail in the middle. They go at the join, where the wire bends every time you charge and the strands inside take the strain over and over. This one is reinforced at both connector heads for exactly that reason, which is the single biggest difference between a cable that lasts a year and a bargain-bin one that splits in a fortnight.
The roughly one-metre length is the sensible middle ground. Long enough to keep vaping while it charges from a desk or bedside socket, short enough that it does not turn into a tangled bird's nest in a bag.
For Aspire owners the natural partner is the Aspire 1A wall plug. The plug turns the mains into USB, the cable carries it the last stretch, and the device charges at its own rated pace. The pair comes to under £7, which is a tidy way to replace a whole lost charger setup. Browse the rest of the Aspire vape kits while you are restocking.
