The Zap! Juice Salt Nicotine Shot is a nic salt formulation nicotine additive designed for use with 0mg shortfill e-liquids. Standard nicotine shots use freebase nicotine — the same chemistry as most cigarettes. Nic salt shots use benzoic acid as a reaction agent, converting the nicotine to a salt form that is absorbed by the body more quickly and produces less throat irritation at equivalent concentrations.
This matters most for vapers who use 50ml shortfill e-liquids at higher wattage (sub-ohm or high-wattage pod mod setups) and find standard freebase nic shots too harsh at their preferred concentration. Adding a Zap! nic salt shot to a 50ml 0mg shortfill produces a 60ml e-liquid at typically 3mg-5mg nic salt — smoother throat impact at the same nicotine concentration as a freebase shot.
Freebase nicotine shots (standard nic shots) produce a noticeable throat hit at concentrations above 3mg in high-wattage setups. At 18mg freebase in a direct-lung sub-ohm setup, the throat hit would be intolerable. This is why shortfill users typically use freebase nic shots at final concentrations of 3-6mg only.
Nic salt shots allow higher effective nicotine concentrations in shortfill setups with reduced throat impact. Adding a salt nic shot to a 50ml shortfill produces approximately 3-5mg salt nic — which in terms of satisfaction is closer to 10mg freebase because of the faster absorption profile. For vapers who feel underpowered at 3mg freebase but find higher concentrations harsh, salt nic shots offer a practical middle ground.
Most 50ml shortfill bottles are filled to 50ml in a 60ml bottle, leaving 10ml of space for a nic shot. Add the Zap! salt nic shot to the empty space in the shortfill bottle, recap and shake well. Wait 5-10 minutes for the nicotine to fully mix before vaping. The resulting 60ml e-liquid contains the shortfill's original flavour concentration diluted by approximately 17% with the nicotine shot.
Use a compatible shortfill — see the 100ml shortfill range for e-liquids that accept nic shot additions. For 100ml shortfills, two nic shots are typically required to reach the same concentration.
