What Riot actually is (and why the bottle shape matters)

Riot Labs launched in 2016 with a clear mandate: make genuinely bold, original UK e-liquid at a time when the market was flooded with generic "fruit and ice" combinations. The bullet bottle was a deliberate choice: part functional (the tapered tip makes one-handed pouring easy), part identity marker. You can pick a Riot bottle out of a full shelf without reading the label.

The Milton Keynes facility produces everything in-house. Locally sourced ingredients, clean-room production, and (importantly) the brand develops its own concentrates rather than buying in flavour bases. That last point is why the flavours tend to register as more complex than the names suggest. "Cherry Cola" in a Riot Bar EDTN is not the same as "Cherry Cola" from a brand that bought the concentrate off a shelf.

The hybrid nicotine formula, explained plainly

Most nic salt brands pick a lane: either pure nicotine salt (smooth, fast-absorbing, gentle throat feel) or freebase (sharper hit, slower absorption). Riot's hybrid formula, used across PUNX, Hybrid and BLCK EDTN, sits between the two deliberately. The salt component gives you the speed of absorption and the smoothness. The freebase component adds a little more presence at the back of the throat.

For people coming off cigarettes or disposables, the hybrid can feel more satisfying than straight salt at the same mg level, because that slight throat hit registers as a more cigarette-like sensation. It is not harsher (the salt content keeps it smooth), but it is more there. If you find standard 20mg salts a bit empty-feeling, start with a PUNX or Hybrid before stepping up in strength.

Bar EDTN: the range that replaced your disposable

Bar EDTN is Riot's direct answer to the disposable ban. The idea is simple: take the profiles people were already buying in disposable bars (that slightly sweet, recognisably sharp flavour DNA) and put them in a 10ml bottle of nic salt. Same hit, same flavour family, but you are pouring into a pod kit that costs about £6 once and lasts for months.

With 50-plus flavours and a price of £12.99 for 10, Bar EDTN is the most accessible entry point into the brand. The flavour names are literal (Cherry Cola tastes like cherry cola; Watermelon Ice is watermelon with an ice finish), which makes it easy to shop by craving. Blue Raspberry and Blueberry Sour Raspberry consistently top the sales in this line; Fresh Mint and Pineapple Ice do well with the menthol crowd.

Technically: 50/50 VG/PG, pure nic salt, 10mg and 20mg, double-concentrate flavouring. The double-concentrate is why Bar EDTN flavours tend to punch above their weight compared with some competing bars-style nic salts.

RIOT X: when you want the flavour to be aggressive

RIOT X does not do subtle. The range is built around high-intensity, often sour profiles that are noticeably more complex than the Bar EDTN line: not just "fruit" but "fruit plus contrast". Dark Fruits layers several dark berry flavours into something richer than any single component; Sour Grape Chew is exactly the kind of sour-sweet combination you get from a bag of chews rather than a grown-up drink.

Priced at £18.99 for 10, it is the premium end of the Riot range, and the flavour complexity is where the money goes. Not every bottle in the line is sour, though. Several are more conventional intense fruit blends, just executed with the same level of flavour concentration. If Bar EDTN is Riot's everyday line, RIOT X is the one you come back to when you want to pay a bit more attention.

Flavours worth trying first

If the range is new to you and you are not sure where to land: start with Bar EDTN. Blue Raspberry and Blueberry Sour Raspberry are the top sellers across the whole brand for good reason. They are well-executed, not over-sweet, and the sour edge stops them from getting cloying after a few hours. Cherry Cola is the best rendition of that profile in a 10ml salt we have come across.

For RIOT X, Dark Fruits and Sour Cherry Apple are the ones people come back for. If you liked complex, multi-flavour disposables rather than single-note ones, RIOT X is where to start.

PUNX Strawberry Raspberry Blueberry and Guava Passionfruit Pineapple are the standout hybrids; both benefit from the freebase kick that a straight salt version would soften too much. KURO is a different proposition entirely: Tokyo Mule (ginger, lime, mint) is a genuine conversation piece if you are bored of fruit ice and want something that tastes nothing like anything else in your drawer.

Why buy by the 10

Riot 10ml salts are TPD bottles: one bottle at a time does not make sense commercially. The way the pricing works here is that 10 bottles at £12.99 (for Bar EDTN) works out at £1.30 a bottle: a reasonable all-day vaping budget for a premium UK brand. At retail you would typically pay £2.99 to £3.99 per bottle for the same liquid.

There is a practical argument too. If you find a flavour you like, running out mid-week is irritating. Having 10 in the drawer means you never have to think about it until the pack is done.
