Standard rolling tips from budget brands use chemically whitened paper — the bleaching process removes the natural brown colour of the paper fibre but introduces chemicals that contribute to the flavour of the smoke. RAW's unbleached approach keeps the paper in its natural state: a light brown colour that does not affect the flavour of the tobacco or herb being smoked.

The perforations on RAW Tips run at regular intervals along the tip length. These allow users to tear the tip to a precise length — shorter for a smaller roach with less air restriction, longer for a more open draw. Rolling the tip into a tight spiral or a loose spiral also affects air resistance through the roll.

RAW Tips are primarily used with hand-rolled tobacco cigarettes and CBD flower rolls.
