Earlier SMOK Novo pods used traditional wire-wrap coils — single or dual wire coils with modest surface area. The Novo Pod M moves to mesh coils across all resistance options. Mesh delivers more consistent heat distribution: the porous mesh sheet heats the e-liquid more evenly than wound wire, reducing hot spots that cause cotton burning and producing more consistent flavour across the pod's life.

For MTL vaping at 0.8 Ohm and 1.0 Ohm, the mesh advantage is most visible in the absence of dry hits and the clean, consistent flavour from first use through to the pod's end of life. Vapers upgrading from older Novo pods with wire coils will notice the improvement immediately.

The 0.6 Ohm pod is positioned at the crossover between MTL and DL — used with 50/50 e-liquids at the higher end of the Novo Pod M's wattage output. It provides more vapour than the 0.8 or 1.0 Ohm without crossing into DL territory. Vapers who find 1.0 Ohm too restrictive but don't want to step up to a pod mod will find the 0.6 Ohm a useful middle ground.
